Welcoming to pretty much anyone, provided they were kind - Bill on Ili

I don't have a particular story that can really capture the essence of Ili but here are some completely inadequate thoughts. First off, Ili was a constant and that is meant, not in a "take it for granted" sense but in a selfless and most appreciated sense. She was always engaged, not only willing , but wanting to help and to be there with a smile and a good perspective.

When I think of Ili, here are some of my memories:

Barbara Fritchies- We were hiking at Gambrill State Park and Ili was trying to move her eldest daughter along who was being a tad stubborn in announcing herself to the world. Upon finishing the hike we went to Barbara Fritchies for world famous pie and upon arrival back in Ellicott City a beautiful daughter made her first appearance. Ili often commented on the wonders of the B Fritchie pies.

Bike trips during our 20's. She was a trooper in participating in some of those rides. The after ride relaxation was well earned !

Her Girls, there was nothing she would not do for Bri & Tess. Some of the parties for the Girls - wow ! I believe Ili grew up with a certain independence and she instilled that in her Girls.

She had a very impressive work career. Her ability to speak her mind and stand up for what she believed was something I always admired.

Clem- Ili was such a great daughter.

Mary Irene- Ili was such a big part of Mary's life. Her kindness and caring for Mary was a true gift for both Mary and for all of the O'Briens.

A keen sense of humor, a great perspective on balancing what was important and what really wasn't that important. Even in times that seemed more than a tad exasperating or stressful she never seemed to let the negatives get the better of her outlook or optimism.

These are some of the things that come to my mind when I think of Ili. She was a constant that we all depended on and now truly miss-
