I knew of Ileana by reputation only long before I had the opportunity to meet with her and then work with her at the Department of Labor, Licensing and Regulation. She was reputationed for hard work and a tremendous sense of fairness. It was this sense of fairness that led me to want to get to know her better. I would discover as I moved along my career path that not only did she live up to her reputation but she was a phenomenal listener, problem solver and adviser. I was so very lucky to eventually have the honor to call her a true friend.
She left this world much too soon but she sure left it in a better place because she cared; she truly cared about everything and everybody she touched. May she rest in peace and may God care for her family. She is and will be sincerely missed and fondly remembered--always with a smile.
